This 24 year old Clynelish was distilled in 1972 and matured for 24 years before being bottled as part of the Rare Malts Selection by Diageo.
Rare Malts Selection was introduced by Diageo as a celebration of mothballed distillery and this Clynelish 1972 is one of the most sought after bottles from the series.
Most of its bottlings were from single malts or distilleries that had either closed or been demolished. Others were from casks that had been found tucked away in existing distilleries. The whiskies had to be aged between 18 and 30 years old and from the years 1969-1981.
Releases were limited to just three a year between 1995 and 1998, however dwindling supplies from an exhaustible source meant it was dropped to one a year before being ceased completely in 2005 after just 121 releases.
This bottle is presented with the original Clynelish 1972 Rare Malts box in immaculate condition.
